Day 5

Today momma took me to work with her.  I am trying to figure out why Callie and Xena get all excited to go with her... I thought it was so boring!  Momma put me back in the den with the bars that I was in the first night that I stayed there... I was a little nervous that I would have to spend the night there again!

Some of momma friends visited, patted, and played with me to keep me company during the morning.  I got tons of compliments on how cute I am.  I had a kitten manicure and pedicure... momma said that it was so my nails wouldn't get caught in things again when I run... I thought that was a pretty good idea... I can't run fast when my little nails are getting stuck in things and slowing me down!

And then came the waiting...  momma kept checking in on me every few decades or so... (well, in human time, it was about once every hour... but that is a long time for a kitten who just wants to PLAY who is stuck in a cage!)  I took a long nap in between friends coming and playing with me, and momma coming in to check on me.

And then came the worst part of my day... I had to see a doctor!  At first, I just thought momma was passing me to her to show her how cute I am, because that was how I met everyone at mommas work... but after the exclamation of cuteness came...

 The thermometer!!!  (How humiliating...)

and then my whole body was being examined...  according to the doctor, I have a good heart!!  (I think momma already knew that though).  Unfortunately, the doctor found the ear mites that I had been hiding in my ears... I thought I'd be a nice kitten and give them a safe place to live... the doctor had other plans for them though, and I had to have my ears cleaned out with q-tips and ear mite killer... what a weird feeling that was!  I couldn't stop shaking my head for a long time afterwards!

Then the doctor made me eat this NASTY tasting paste... she said it was to get rid of the worms in my belly... EWWW!  Worms in my belly??? GET THEM OUT NOW!!

After that traumatizing experience, momma put me back in my box, and then we came back home.  And then I slept for the rest of the afternoon.

I need to talk to Callie and Xena and see why they like going to work with momma so much! They always seem to have so much fun when they are there... I can't imagine having to experience that everyday!!

The rest of my day consisted of sleeping and playing with daddy.  He even took me outside so we could talk to the nice lady who lives downstairs again!

After such a long day, its time for me to call it a night and catch some much needed sleep!  Little kittens like me need their sleep so that they can play all day!  Can not wait to see what adventures tomorrow will bring!  Hopefully it will not involve me having to go to work again with momma... I will gladly give up that privilege and let Callie and Xena go in my place since they seem to enjoy it so much...

Day 4

Momma took Callie and Xena to work again this morning, so me and dad decided to change things up a little.  Today was a day of meeting new people!  Daddy took me downstairs to meet the people that live there, we had so much fun visiting!

Daddy invented a few new toys and games for me.  I have two more favorite toys (actually, I think that I have decided that everything is a toy!)- his backpack and a computer cable that he hung from the desk so that it would swing and gave me something to chase. I kept climbing in and out of his backpack, it is a good hiding place for me!  When momma got home with Callie and Xena, I hid in the backpack and then jumped out at Callie when she came to find me... it was so much fun!!  We played this way for a very long time!  Callie couldn't figure out where I was hiding, and how I kept popping out of the backpack without her knowing I was there.

I've discovered today that feet are awesome toys... especially if they have shoes on (the laces are SOOO much fun to play with!).

We had a visitor this afternoon come and visit, they said her name is Auntie Heather...  she let me play with her feet and her purse was so much fun!  The straps on it made perfect toys, and it had little dangles on it to play with!

I tried to jump over the barrier that keeps me in my room a few times today...  I'm just not quite big enough to jump it, but I will be soon!  I'm curious to see what is on the other side of the door!

Momma invented a new game for me too!  I got to play on this thing called a bed... Momma would put her hands under the sheets and I would chase them and run around the bed!  It was so much fun stalking them...  Amelia was in the room too, watching me play.  She didn't hiss or growl at me today... maybe she is starting to like me??  (I hope!)

Its been such a busy day with lots of new adventures found and new friends made!!  Can not wait to see what tomorrow has in store for me!

For now, have a good night!!  Time for the sleepy kitten to catch some sleep on daddy's lap.  See you tomorrow!!

Day 3

Daddy woke me up this morning and we went outside with Callie and Xena.  It was REALLY cold outside!!  I am not used to cold air... as much as I loved being with them, it was quite the shock going from my warm fleece bed outside into the cold morning air.  But, daddy held me and kept me warm the best he could under the circumstances.

Today me and daddy spent a lot of guy time together!  Momma, Callie, and Xena went to this place called work... Callie and Xena get to go and play with other furry giants at a place called "Doggie Day Care"... maybe someday, I will be big enough so that I can go too!  It sounds like a lot of fun!

Daddy is so silly!  He loves to play tag or hide and seek with me when its just the two of us... and he makes funny sounds that make me happy, and want to chase his feet.  We got a lot of play time today, just the two of us.  And then, when I got tired, daddy let me sleep on his tummy and take a nap while he was working on his computer.  Brave little kittens need their rest too!

I discovered today that my nails like to get stuck in things... I was running around earlier (cause that is what little kittens like me do!) and my nails got stuck in a piece of fabric, and the next thing I knew I was running with the fabric attached to my feet!  That was a new experience... luckily daddy was there to help me get the fabric unstuck from my paws... it was on there pretty good, and I was very confused about how to get it off.

Callie and Xena came home from play time, and then played with me!!  They were all muddy though, and smelled like wet fur... (what happens at this doggie day care to make them so wet and smelly???)  They were really tired though, and would only play with me for a few minutes before they had to go take a nap.  So I just played with daddy again!

I learned today that there are some things that I can jump and climb over, and some things I am still too little to jump over (no matter how hard I try!!).  Momma keeps laughing at me and telling me I need to get my brakes fixed (whatever those are...) when I run REALLY fast and can't stop... I've ran into the wall a few times, but I'm a kitten, I just bounce right off and then run around some more!

Its time for bed... lets see what adventures are in store for me tomorrow!

Day 2: Afternoon

So many new things to explore and play with in my new home!!!

Today has been a constant rotation of eat, play, sleep...  I am the perfect cat-napper!  My new parents have spoiled me with 2 fleece blankets, and they are perfect to crash on after I've been playing with Callie and Xena...

I'm really learning the ropes!  I'm learning that Callie is WAY clumsier than I am... three times today she has stepped on my tail when she was trying to play with me...

Ouchy!!

Luckily I am too fast for her to catch...

I've discovered a few new toys that I love to play with... my favorite (besides Callie's tail) is her mane under her neck!  She is like part lion!  We have invented a new game together!  She lets me lay down on my back between her giant front paws and she puts her head on my belly and I play bite/scratch it!  Its the best game ever! She loves it too... we've been doing it all afternoon!  Sometimes I think she forgets how tiny I am though... once she almost squished me, but I'm FAST and ran into my room, then sneak attacked her feet!!

After playing for a while, me and Callie took a nap on the floor together!  I was sooooo sleepy after playing tag with her for so long!

I also discovered plastic bags today!  They are SOOOO much fun!  But momma and daddy say they aren't safe for me... party poopers!  I am glad they at least let me play with the plastic water bottles I found... they are so much fun to roll around on the floor with!

Amelia has taken to avoiding me... which is ok for now, she still scares me after last night...  she said some very not happy words to me in cat language when momma brought me into Amelia's room...  I will be honest, I was a little more than a little nervous...

There was a really bad wind and rain storm all day today!  We could hear it in the house, I didn't like the loud noises that the trees were making outside the windows.  And the thunder was not fun!  But, I am Sylvester the brave!  Thunder and wind storms do not scare me!

(ok, maybe they do just a little...)

Little kitten in the big world!  I'm still learning, and so aren't my new parents...  I can tell its been a while since they have had a kitten... but I am loving my new home and family... these giants are all pretty cool cats!

Day 2: Morning

It is a new day in my new home!!

This morning I woke up in my room, and my new daddy came in and scooped me up and I got to play in a new HUGE room with Callie and Xena...

I was a little nervous at first, Callie was VERY excited to see me, and I hate to say it, but she is a little clumsy...  I remembered that she had stepped on my foot yesterday and I didn't want to have to bite her again to get off me, so I dashed in and out from under the table and couches where she couldn't step on me.  That way, we could play TAG and me not get stepped on!

Then I ran behind one of the couches and there was Amelia.

AHHHH!!!!!!

I ran away so she couldn't get me, and luckily she didn't chase me.  PHEW!!!  I guess she doesn't like the furry giants, so she hides under that couch when they are in the HUGE room.  I need to remember that that is HER hiding place, and hopefully if I do not bug her, maybe she will begin to like me.  (I hope!!!)

I do not know why Amelia doesn't like Callie and Xena... I find that they are great toys to play with!!  This morning Xena even tried to share her food bowl with me!  I was playing hide and seek under the table, and I guess I was not hiding very well because the next thing I knew, Xena was shoving her food bowl across the HUGE room with her nose and brought it right up to me to share!  I hated hurting her feelings, but my little teeth can not eat her big food (yet).  I think she likes me though!!

Then something really embarrassing happened...  Here I was, in a new room, and did not know where my litter box was!!  I started crying and crying, asking where my litter box was, but none of the giants could tell me where it was, and I had a poo poo accident on the couch (and on daddy too).

It was so embarrassing!!

I looked at daddy and said I was sorry!!!  My new momma picked me up and showed me where my litter box was again, and I was so grateful!!  After this embarrassing adventure, I decided it was nap time, so I went back the bed!  Its been a very eventful morning!!

Day 1

When I woke up this morning, I was in a very strange place...  I was in a den that could have fit 10 of me, with a barred door that wouldn't let me out no matter how much I cried at it to... I had a comfy fleece bed, round things that made crackly sounds to play with, water, and 2 bowls of food... some of the food was yummy wet gooey liver flavored food... the other "stuff" was a horrible attempt of fake momma kitty milk... *blech*.

Some giants that made strange sounds eventually came to my den, patted me, held me, and took away my poo poo...  and occasionally one of the giants would come back and make soft sounds to me.

I wasn't as scared as I had been yesterday...

I was taking a nap when I was woken up, and realized that something different was happening... everything in my den was being moved...  and me too!  I was put in a box... my den was gone, and the next thing I knew, I was being taken somewhere else!!  What was happening??  I had just gotten comfortable in my den, with my food, and toys...  now where I was going??  Was I going back to momma??

The machine that I was riding in stopped, and the box I was in was carried into a house, up some stairs, and when my box was opened, I was in a new place.

And there were different kinds of giants here!

There are two giants that have fur like me, but are much, much bigger than me.  At first meeting, they smelled and smelled me...  my heart was racing, but they just gave me kisses... but they are so slobbery!  Their kisses made me so wet and slobbery, I felt like I had a slobber bath.  I purred and purred to let them know that I wasn't afraid of them... hoping that we could be friends...

(Here is a picture of the 2 furry giants!  Callie is on the left, Xena is on the right)

All this change made me tired, so I took a little kitten nap... but then I was ready to PLAY.  I got to play with the 2 furry giants... and with the feet of the non furry ones...

I make a good attack kitten!  I stealth-ed behind boxes and chair legs, and would rush attack an unsuspecting foot or paw that was close enough to attack... and then I would RUN AWAY so I could hide and do it again!!

My favorite toy today was the big bushy tail of the giant they call "Callie"... she would let me attack it and it was so much fun!  She is so tall though!!  No matter how high I jumped to get it, I can't quite reach.  BUT, when she is on the floor, I can stealth attack her tail and play with it!!

I played tag and hide-and-seek with the other giant named Xena for a loooong time.  I would run up to her and tag her feet, then run away and hide so she couldn't tag me back... it was so much fun!

I think I must have worn Xena out though, because she disappeared and went to take a nap... so I played with Callie again... I would dive bomb her feet, zoom in and out between her legs... then one time she stepped on my foot and I hissed at her and made her get off...  but then went right back to playing again!!

The one sad part of my day was I met another kitty like me, who is older and way bigger than me...  she doesn't like me.  I tried to tell her that I was a nice kitten, but she just hissed and growled at me.  I hope that she will change her mind about me...
(this is Amelia... I want to be her friend, but right now she scares me a little...)

It has been a very long day today!  Full of new things, and new friends.  Right now I am heading to bed so I can wake up tomorrow morning and see what new mischief I can get into!

Meet Sylvester

Its amazing to me how life does not always give you what you ask for....

But, from time to time, life will give you what you need...

(whether you know you need it or not...)

Meet Sylvester...

I never expected when I went to work yesterday to find this cute little face staring back at me...  I could not help but walk over to his cage, to which he started hissing at me in this small  teeny tiny hiss.  I just laughed and called him silly.  As soon as he heard my voice he just started crying and crying, as if he was telling me he was sorry... that he was just afraid and alone...  that he was just looking for someone to love him...

Later in the morning, I learned his story... his mom had abandoned him (downright attacked him!) and the lady who had trapped him and his mother did not want mom to kill the poor little guy, so she separated them and brought him to us...  apparently mom was expecting another litter, and was making room... out with the old, and in with the new apparently...

Poor Sylvester!!

Only about 5-6 weeks old, and separated from the only family he knew...  One day life was great!! He was with his mom (who at that time was the love of his life).  The next day... he was being attacked by the only one who he knew and loved, captured, put in a box, and brought to a strange place...

a place full of giants
bright lights,
strange smells,
and loud noises...

then put in a cage to stay until the "foster parents" (ekk!  who were they?!?) came to get him...

I never expected when I went to work yesterday that I would be giving another piece of my heart to yet another furball.

To me, yesterday was just another day just like any other...

But...

Life had different plans.

This blog is meant to be a telling of Sylvester's journey...

starting with today.
